6 Personal and School Items Cell Phones/Electronic Devices During the Day at Mardela Cell phone/personal electronic devices: • must be always in silent mode. • must be turned off in private areas of the building (locker rooms, restrooms, nurse’s office). • may not be used for audio recording per Maryland Law without the permission of the individual(s) being recorded prior to recording them. • should not be used in inappropriate situations such as video recording confrontations or fights. Failure to abide by this rule will result in disciplinary action. The school will not be responsible for replacing electronic devices or earbuds if lost or stolen. In The Classroom Cell phones/personal electronic devices should be in silent mode and MAY NOT BE OUT OR USED IN THE CLASSROOM. They should only be visible and in use if the teacher has given permission to do so for instructional purposes only. This is at the discretion of the classroom teacher. In The Building Silent use of cell phones is allowed to be used at class change, at breakfast and lunch and in nonclassroom areas of the school when permitted by the administration if it does not disrupt the school environment. Students who violate this procedure will receive disciplinary consequences. Parents- Please help us by not texting your child during the school day except during breakfast or lunch. Laptops Each student is provided with a school-issued laptop. Any laptop damage will be the responsibility of the student and family. Students must…. • be responsible for the care of the laptop. • bring their fully charged laptop and charging cord to school each day. • follow all guidelines as outlined on the “Wicomico County Public Schools Laptop Loaner Device Agreement” and the “Wicomico County Public Schools Acceptable Use Policy.” Book Bags We recommend that students use the smallest size bags that safely accommodate their needs and that fit under their desk/chair so that students and teachers can move freely around the classroom.
