2 School Character Code I’m a proud student at Beaver Run Schools. I will be respectful and follow all the rules. I am responsible for things I do and say. I will make good choices everyday. I will mind my manners for all to see. To be the best citizen I can be. DRESS CODE Beaver Run Elementary is a Consistent Attire Program (CAP) School. We will announce NON-CAP days throughout the year. Picture Days are NON-CAP days. Students are expected to wear CAP on field trips. A detailed dress code is available through www.wcboe.org and has been distributed to all students. Students must comply with the Wicomico County Board of Education Student Dress Code. Consequences for failure to abide by the dress code are detailed in the Dress Code policy. ATTENDANCE Regular and prompt attendance is necessary for a student to maintain satisfactory progress. Excessive absences and tardiness from school are detrimental to the educational process. A doctor’s note or parent’s note is required for an absence to be excused. Notes must be turned in to the office within 5 days of the absence. Notes handed in after that time will be accepted, but will not excuse the absence. ABSENCES FOR FAMILY TRIPS Please try to schedule family trips during times when school is not in session. These absences interfere with the students' learning process. The County guideline for elementary students is as follows: While it is recognized that a trip cannot be considered a legal reason to be absent from school, it is felt that under the following circumstances, no punitive action should be taken. • The trip must be with the family or is parent sanctioned. • Circumstances and reasons should be fully discussed with the principal in advance. Please provide written notice of the trip to the front office. • All arrangements for homework, tests, etc., should be worked out with individual teachers a week in advance. Students are expected to complete all make-up work within a reasonable length of time, which will be determined by the teacher. • The trip should have a definite educational value for the student involved. Teachers should not be asked to provide work missed BEFORE you go on the trip. ARRIVAL OF STUDENTS School doors are unlocked for students to enter at 8:30 a.m. each school day (or in case of weather-related delay, one to two hours later).
