Teachers' grade books should include at least two grades per six days of instruction for each student. The grades for the entire marking period should reflect progress for both formative and summative assignments and the number of grades per category must be appropriate for the overall number of assignments for that term. Content supervisors may require more specific grading criteria within these procedures for respective content area teachers. All teachers must include explanations of these grading systems in their grade books. Columns in the grade books should indicate the task assignment being evaluated and the date of collection for the assignment. Teacher gradebooks must be maintained electronically and updated with current grades at least once every two weeks. 4. Letter Grades The following letter grades will be used in grades 9-12 for all subject areas. a. A - Excellent mastery of knowledge and skills; the quality of work is superior. b. B - Good mastery of knowledge and skills; the quality of work is above average. c. C - Satisfactory mastery of knowledge and skills; the quality of work is average. d. D - Unsatisfactory mastery of knowledge and skills; the quality of work is the minimal level of acceptable performance. e. E - Failure in mastery of knowledge and skills; the student does little or none of the work required, and the quality is unacceptable. f. I - Incomplete work due to excessive lawful absences from school. Letter Grade *Percentage Range A 90-100 B 80-89 C 70-79 D 60-69 E 0-59 *Note: Any grade 0.5 or higher will round to the next whole number. 5. Ratings for Alternate Academic Curriculum. The following ratings will be used for participants in an alternate academic curriculum along with the student's earned percentage where applicable for the End of Marking Period Report Card: a. O - Outstanding - Student consistently demonstrates and applies understanding independently in a variety of settings. b. S - Satisfactory - Student demonstrates some understanding and applies understanding in a variety of settings with support.
